{hacking,music,electronics,radio}

Here are the toots from my Mastodon account. If you’re into ham radio and technology this is a great inclusive server with an awesome mascot called Alex.

It's Alex! A soft brown mastodon holding a handheld radio in their right hand and carrying a blue bag over their shoulder

This spreadsheet of Pi style single board computers is pretty cool:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jWMaK-26EEAKMhmp6SLhjScWW2WKH4eKD-93hjpmm_s/edit#gid=0

found via https://blog.erratasec.com/2019/05/some-raspberry-pi-compatible-computers.html

There are so many alternatives, but ease of access, support and hardware variety make the Pi an good choice.

I’m also really tempted to add an SSD to my Pi 4, after seeing https://jamesachambers.com/raspberry-pi-4-usb-boot-config-guide-for-ssd-flash-drives/

I finally posted my WSJT-X + Raspberry Pi setup guide:

https://hackerific.net/2020/05/02/wsjt-x-and-raspberry-pi/

I’ve been meaning to write this for two years but only just got around to it! There’s nothing ground breaking here but people might find it useful šŸ¤žšŸ»

Just setting up my newest Pi! These things feel so fast, Iā€™m hoping I can get away with no fan. This is hooked up to my 706mkII

I couldn’t get the latest beta of sslscan to build on macOS so I made a Dockerfile:

https://github.com/mattfoster/sslscan-docker

I used Debian unstable so I’d get chacha20 and friends and TLS 1.3.

This satellite map is super cool: https://maps.esri.com/rc/sat2/index.html

You can click on each tiny dot (a satellite’s current location!) and view information on.

One of my colleagues (on a placement) is doing a survey on:

[the] Impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on the Mental Health of Working Adults - for a uni project.

If you have a few minutes to spare and wouldn’t mind filling it in that would be awesome!
