{hacking,music,electronics,radio}

Here are the toots from my Mastodon account. If you’re into ham radio and technology this is a great inclusive server with an awesome mascot called Alex.

It's Alex! A soft brown mastodon holding a handheld radio in their right hand and carrying a blue bag over their shoulder

Virtual Machines for iOS: https://getutm.app/ this could be awesome if it gets off the ground.

iSH is already fun and useful https://ish.app/ but it’ll be good to see what’s possible on locked down apple hardware.

This powerpole PDU looks cool:

https://hackaday.io/project/170493-anderson-power-distribution

Very similar to the sotabeams version but there’s probably not much in the way of obvious variations to make.

This book on SDR from Pragmatic Programmers looks like it might be good: https://pragprog.com/book/wdradio/explore-software-defined-radio fairly cheap while it’s in beta, and pragprog is a really good + DRM free publisher.

Spotted in Bath. The new Tesla trip hazard… or solution to charging when you have no driveway.

A Tesla parked outside of a house in bath. There’s a plastic cable protector over the pavement and the car is being charged. The protector is yellow on top but is pretty tall and easy to trip over.

I’m surprised it’s still so windy and cold but very glad Saturday was so nice. I went out for a nice paddle in the sunshine, just a few hours before the storm hit!

I need to get my antenna pole down to free a stick pulley but I can’t do that until it stops being so windy!

Two kayaks on a concrete bar. There is a weird on the right and fast moving water in front of the weir.
